Singles Ski Holidays in Courmayeur
Lovely and leisurely. With great snow, varied terrain, fabulous scenery and plenty of time for lunch, Courmayeur takes a very Italian approach to skiing.
Chalethotel Cristallo
With plenty of Italian style and flourish and an intimate feel, the Cristallo is a lovely chalethotel in the heart of Courmayeur amongst the shops, bars and restaurants. The main cable car is 5 minutes away by foot making this an ideal place to stay for skiers including groups and people on singles ski holidays. The skis and boots can be conveniently left in lockers on the slopes. Inside the Cristallo stone floors are covered with big rugs, the walls are panelled with carved wood and the antique furniture gives the hotel a warm elegant feel.
With plenty of Italian style and flourish and an intimate feel, the Cristallo is a lovely chalethotel in a perfect location. Sitting in a quiet side street off the pedestrianised Via Roma, the Cristallo is in the heart of the ski resort in the middle of the cafés, the restaurants and the most stylish of shops. In the morning an easy five minute walk takes you to the main cable car, unencumbered by skis and boots which are conveniently left in lockers on the slopes.
Inside the Cristallo you will find loads of charm and personality with rustic stone floors, walls panelled with carved wood and hung with pictures of local history. Antique furniture and the use of deep colours give the bar and lounge a feeling of warmth and elegance. In the dining room the convivial atmosphere continues, with large tables for dining with friends - or, if you prefer, a table for two.
Bedrooms here are comfortable, most are roomy and have been decorated with care. All the rooms have en-suite facilities with a bath or shower and WC and some can take an extra bed. For those wanting a room of their own, the Cristallo has two single rooms.
Courmayeur Ski Resort
Courmayeur has an excellent snow record, backed up with a very impressive snow-making system and a very efficient lift system, including a new gondola and a fast four man chairlift.
The ski area is great for people of all skill levels to enjoy ski holidays for singles and has a varied selection of easy and intermediate runs liberally sprinkled with welcoming huts, each with its own panoramic sundeck and spectacular view. At the top of the cable car is the nursery area for beginners. For stronger skiers the possibilities are endless, with famous off-piste runs such as the Vallee Blanche into Chamonix, the Toula Glacier in the shadow of Mont Blanc and access to some of the best value heli-skiing in Europe (with a mountain guide). The ski shop is located at the bottom of the cable car, where skis and boots can be left overnight.
The Vallée Blanche descent into Chamonix is outstanding and one that you'll never forget. Thrilling off-piste skiing and stunning scenery make this a truly memorable experience.
However, in Courmayeur, skiing is only half the story. Lunches are long and early evenings are spent strolling around the cobbled streets and chic shops, or sitting over a drink in the via Roma, enjoying Italian lifestyle at its most stylish.
For something completely different
Spend a fantastic afternoon discovering the wines of the Aosta Valley, followed by a traditional evening meal at one of Courmayeur's best restaurants. The wine tour (bookable from January) visits a selection of the area's top wineries with a qualified English speaking sommelier. Visit Europe's highest vineyards and discover how wine is made in a mountain environment. The tour ends at a typical Aosta Valley restaurant where the hosts will serve a traditional meal accompanied by wines of the region.
